Writing is all about communicating specific information or ideas, utilising the format, language and content relevant to the workplace. It comes from our own imagination that we experience with our our five senses which are sight, smell, taste, hear and touch. We are the architect of our writing's content. It simply means that the content of our writing is created by ourselves, there is no right and wrong, so we do not need to check with anyone.
Good writing consists of three components, ABC's. A represents Accessible, it is a must that everyone can read our writing. Next, B is Basic. Choosing a common topic will do, all we need to do is just putting more and more ideas about the topic but all the ideas must be related to the central goal of the paper. Lastly, C means Clear. Writing has to be clearer than verbal communication because there are no assisting clues like facial expression, body language and so on. Therefore, choosing the understandable words is essential in writing. It is nice to use bombastic words, but not complicated or obscure words.
Besides, everyone has their own writing process. It is important to be conscious of our own writing process as it is very helpful to make our writing goes smooth. There are five steps in writing that I found it is a useful writing process. First, we have to do prewriting. Take a rough paper and write our rough ideas or points on the paper. Next, it is drafting. This is when we combine our ideas and examples into paragraphs. Then, we have to do revising after finish writing. It means we have to read through what we have written and find the errors like grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. After that, we do editing to fix the errors that we have found. This is when correctness happens. Lastly, we can publish our writing. For example, blog, book and others.
Furthermore, a good writer will ask themselves questions before or even during writing. There are few examples of question that we can ask ourselves to come out with a good writing. How do I begin? What is my purpose? How do I make my points clear? How do I create a logical flow? How do I say what I mean? How do I avoid grammatical errors? How can I make my message brief? How can I make a visual effect? There is a 6+1 factor in writing skill which are Idea, Organisations, Voice, Sentence Fluency, Word Choice, Convention and Presentation.
Last but not least, I would like to share one of my writing experience here. We were assigned to write a poem in class and it was a group activity. The topic our lecturer gave us was 'LOVE'. Most of the people tend to think of relationship or couple once they think of love. However, some of the students think that love can also be friendship, family's love, pet, hobby or even a non-living thing. Everyone has different perception on love, we have no right to judge on people's content because they experience what we do not experience before. And for my group, love is about Science. Below is the poem that my group has created. I hope you like it.
Unconditional Love
Love is about Chemistry,
Combination of heart's elements,
Being pulled together by the force of attraction,
A compound is formed.
Love is about Physics,
Combination of hot and cold water,
Being poured into a cup to warm each others,
Thermal equilibrium is achieved.
Love is about Biology,
Combination of two genders,
Being hugged together without any worries,
Sense of security is felt.
Love is all about you and me!
Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
