As I mention before, one must have a reason to write something. There are four main types of writing which are expository, descriptive, persuasive and narrative.

Expository writing is to explain.  It is a subject-oriented writing style where you need to include facts and figures, there is no personal opinions in this type of writing. For example, technical or scientific writing, recipes and news stories.

Next, descriptive writing is to describe a character, an event or a place in great detail. This is when you use your five senses like what can you see from the person. In this type of writing, poetic is used to consistently grab audience's attention. For example, journal or diary writing, poetry and natural writing.

Besides, persuasive writing is to convince. It contains opinions and biases, justifications and reasons. This is when you hope to convince people to agree with you. advertisements or commercial, letter of recommendation and newspaper opinion and editorial pieces are the examples of persuasive writing.

Furthermore, narrative writing is to tell a story. The writer will create different characters in this type of writing. Some writer will use the first person narration (the first person who created out that story) and create a new story. You have to always ask yourself  "what happen then?". For examples, novels,  short stories and anecdotes.

Last but not least, I would like to share one of my writing experience. One day in college, my English lecturer showed us two videos, one is about translator and another one is about LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender). We were assigned to write a summary on either one video and my group chose LGBT. There are three types of criteria we need to include in our summary which are why is the title called so, the content of the video and what we learnt from the video.

I would also grab this opportunity to say that we should treat LGBT people as how we treat straight people as they are also a human.
